Full book borrowing privileges are available to currently enrolled students and faculty of Mississippi College. Borrowing privileges with some restrictions are also extended to other types of users.
A current university ID card or library card must be presented at the Main Desk when borrowing books.
Borrowing privileges at the Speed Library and the MC Law Library are available to all current Mississippi College students, faculty and staff. Borrowers must abide by the loan and fine policies of the library where the items are borrowed and return the items to that library.
Current MC Students
The general loan period for students is three weeks with a limit of 30 items. Materials can be renewed twice for three weeks each time. Users can log into their MY ACCOUNT using name and University ID to renew materials and get a new due date. Renewals are also handled in-person or by calling 601.925.3232. Fines, replacement fees, and processing fees are charged for overdue and/or unreturned items.
Graduate Students Working on Thesis
MC graduate students who are not currently enrolled in classes will be granted borrowing privileges with a loan period of three weeks and a limit of 30 items; two 3-week renewals are allowed. Speed Library must have confirmation from the Graduate School to renew these privileges each semester. Fines, replacement fees, and processing fees are charged for overdue and/or unreturned items.
Faculty and Staff
The general loan period for current MC faculty and staff is 12 weeks with a limit of 30 items. Materials can be renewed three times for 12 weeks each time. New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (NOBTS) Extension students may borrow books from Speed Library upon presentation of a current library card. A list of current NOBTS Extension students is provided to the library each semester.

Community Users
Residents of Clinton and the greater Jackson area, faculty and students from other universities and MC alumni may check out books from Speed Library upon purchase of a Speed Library community user card for $50 per calendar year.
The card must be renewed annually and entitles the cardholder to borrow up to 5 items for a period of three weeks. Two three-week renewals are allowed. Fines, replacement fees, and processing fees are charged to the cardholder for overdue and unreturned items.

Community Use Policies
- Children under the tenth grade must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
- Reference service provided to community users is limited to answering basic directional questions.
- Community users may use Speed Library’s online catalog and the book collection. Subject to licensing restrictions and equipment availability, limited access is available to some electronic databases. Priority use of these databases is reserved for current Mississippi College students, faculty and staff. General access to the internet and email is not available to community users.
