Off-Campus Access

How to connect to library resources when away from MC.

Publishers of some of our databases restrict use to the Mississippi College internet domain.  Because of this, MC students, faculty, and staff are not able to use these resources from home through their own Internet service provider.  However, you can connect to these resources by way of the library's proxy server (EZproxy) with your MC campus network login.

EZproxy will connect you to almost all MC library electronic resources linked from the Electronic Databases library page.  Select an electronic resource and enter your MCnet username and password (here is a screenshot of the login page).

  • You only have to do this once per session.  When you log off your current online session, the system forgets your user name and password, so the authentication box will appear again when you reconnect and try to access one of these library resources.
  • There are some resources that cannot be accessed through EZ Proxy like First Search and some electronic journals.

If you don't know your MCnet username and password, you may get that from the MCnet Information Lookup page.  You may also call the Reference Desk at the library (925-3916) for instructions on retrieving your password or for answers to your questions about the databases.

A word about passwords from MCnet: Your MCnet account is used to access a wide range of services including your email account, library and lab computers, and other online resources such as Moodle and the library proxy.

Your MCnet account is automatically created within 24 hours of your registering for class. The account remains active for eight (8) months after the date you last registered for class.
